Just hours after the official release of the latest refresh of Mozilla’s flagship browser, an unnamed researcher has sold a critical code execution vulnerability that puts millions of Firefox3.0 users at risk of PC takeover attacks.
According to a note from TippingPoint’s Zero Day Initiative (ZDI) , a company that buys exclusive rights to software vulnerability data, the Firefox 3.0 bugalso affects earlier versions of Firefox 2.0x.

Everyone is waiting for Intel’s quad-core, eight-thread Nehalem processor later this year and we got a little sneak peak at the processor’s stability and speed at a closed door meeting with Intel employees. A test machine rendered high-definition video and seamlessly scrolled, panned and zoomed into thousands of photos without breaking a sweat. A recently-discovered flaw in Gmail is capable of turning Google's e-mail service into a highly effective spam machine. According to the Information Security Research Team (INSERT), Gmail is susceptible to a man-in-the-middle attack that allows a spammer to send thousands of bulk e-mails through Google's SMTP service without fear of detection. This attack bypasses both Google's identity fraud protection mechanisms and the current 500-address limit on bulk e-mail.

Advanced Micro Devices needs to more than double its share of the microprocessor market to survive, according to a brief filed by the company's lawyers in its antitrust lawsuit against Intel.At the end of 2007, AMD had 13 percent of the processor market, "less than half of what it requires to operate long-term as a sustainable business," the brief said, explaining that Intel's alleged efforts to shut the company out of the processor business had largely succeeded.

In move that will likely hit AMD’s bottom line, Intel has cut the prices of fourteen processors. The most dramatic cut - the Q6700, the price of which has been slashed by 50%.
The quad-core 2.66GHz Xeon X3230 also has its price slashed by 50% (was $530, now $266).
